The story of Barefoot Bars began after two Pro Hockey players finished playing and started looking for a way to escape the daily grind. Mark Pandolfo and Pete Tormey were forward and defensemen ,respectively, on the River Hawks 2004-2005 team, which finished the season with 20 wins. Only a year later, by sheer coincidence, they found each other rooming together in Trenton, NJ while playing for the Trenton Titans. We signed up to be roommates which led to a lot of talking about what we could do to make a living off the ice. There was some talk about starting a business togther but, as it is with much of that sort of talk, nothing came out of it at the time.
The season ended and they went home for the summer. Pete to Buzzards Bay, Mark to North Andover. Sometime not long after, Pete was asked to build a backyard bar for his friends birthday party. He did, it was a good one, and everyone was pleased. Somewhere along the way a light went off, which was brightened in a phone call to Mark, and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.
Pete Tormey and Mark Pandolfo started a new venture with Barefoot Bars to provide people an escape from the everyday grind. With so many stresses put on us day in and day out why not have a retreat in the comfort of your own backyard.
Barefoot Bars, the product and company that grew out of that summer’s enterprise , is today a household name on Cape Cod. Barefoot Bars has made outdoor and indoor bars for major clubs and restauraunts all over New England – Red Sky , The Boat House , The Falmouth Yacht Club and The Brickhouse Bar and Grill – we are a thriving and growing presence all over southern New England.
They’re offering people a product to help them escape the daily stresses. With so many stresses in our life, why not have a way to sit back and relax with friends and family. Their slogan gives you a pretty good sense of what we stand for, “ Get away from the everyday grind, come slip into a Barefoot State of Mind.”
There is a bar for every space, need and budget, from the small portable Barefoot Adventure bar, which breaks down in just minutes, all the way up through the The Barefoot Tiki Bungalow, a four cornered , faux Hawaiian number with a thatched roof , custom sign and shelving.
They haven’t stopped with bars. On their website you can find boat bars, apparel , decals , special events , catering service, fishing charter and party rentals. They have even created their own Barefoot Yacht Club.
